It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
