Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the formal release, "An unusual encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of prohibited rituals and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The storyline presents a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden cult.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar tests and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Features
Players who accomplish the quest will obtain an special katana alongside multiple items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This release also adds the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
